An amendment to the SSSA Bylaws has been proposed and will be debated and receive a vote at the business meeting on 1st November. The text of the motion amending the bylaws is available here. All SSSA members present at that meeting and in good standing with the association will be welcome to vote on it.
If approved, the amendment will change our name from the present “Southwestern Social Science Association” to “Social Science Society of America.” This would preserve the SSSA acronym. The motion also clarifies that any references in documents to the current association name will be understood to refer to the new name once the motion takes full effect. If approved, the effective date will be 1st January 2020.
