Due to the cancellation of the 2020 Annual Meeting as a result of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the 2020 Southwestern Political Science Association Council agreed that a virtual lecture series might in some small way allow us to touch base with one another, contribute to ongoing academic dialogue, and engage students. To those ends, it has planned a four-part series that is topically oriented, free, and open to the public.
This Thursday (October 22, 3pm eastern) we kick of the SWPSA Speaker series with an all-star panel discussing the Black Lives Matter Movement. The other roundtables will conduct an election 2020 post-mortem with special focus on women candidates, discuss the comparative impacts of COVID around the world, and scrutinize immigration and immigration policy. These events are scheduled for Thursday, November 19, 2020 (Post-Election); Thursday, February 18, 2021 (COVID); and, Thursday, March 18, 2021 (Immigration).
Once again, our first event, a discussion of the Black Lives Matter movement, will occur on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 3 to 5 pm eastern via Zoom.
