The SSSA has received advice from legal counsel that we cannot proceed with the planned special meeting to address the bylaws amendments now under consideration. We can proceed with voting on them at the 2026 Annual Meeting in Nashville. Therefore, the special meeting is cancelled and will not take place. We thank all of you for your membership in the association and look forward to seeing you at the 2026 Annual Meeting.

We are still seeking nominations to fill the positions of Secretary and the Site Director. The Secretary will be elected for a full three-year term. The Site Director will complete the last year of the current three-year term.

The president has decided to appoint an ad hoc committee to examine the role of the general program director, and that officer position will not be filled at this time.

The Secretary is responsible for providing notice of all meetings and keeping minutes of meetings.

The Site Director is responsible for investigating potential sites for the Annual Meeting and recommending sites to the Council, negotiating contracts with hotels or other sites for the Annual Meeting, and handling hotel/site billing for our events.

Any member wishing to nominate or self-nominate for either office should indicate their interest by sending a letter expressing that interest, qualifications, and plans for office by email to SSSA President Suvayan De at suvayande@ucwv.edu. The deadline to submit nominations is 31 May.
