SSSA President Suvayan De has called a special meeting of the Association for 24 May 2025 at 6 PM Central Time. The meeting will be held via Zoom. All members in good standing are welcome to attend and vote at the Special Meeting. The Zoom link will be provided to members in good standing prior to the meeting.
The purpose of this meeting is to consider an amendment to the SSSA Bylaws that would, if passed, amend the representation formula for the affiliates on the Council as well as determine eligibility of affiliates to be in the rotation to nominate the SSSA vice president at the annual General Business Meeting. Following the Special Meeting, members of the Council will remain on the Zoom meeting to elect the Secretary and the Site Director. The Secretary will be elected for a full three-year term. The Site Director will complete the last year of the current three-year term.
The Council has decided to appoint an ad hoc committee to examine the role of the general program director, and that officer position will not be filled at this time.
The Secretary is responsible for providing notice of all meetings and keeping minutes of meetings.
The Site Director is responsible for investigating potential sites for the Annual Meeting and recommending sites to the Council, negotiating contracts with hotels or other sites for the Annual Meeting, and handling hotel/site billing for our events.
Any member wishing to nominate or self-nominate for either office should indicate their interest by sending a letter expressing that interest, qualifications, and plans for office by email to SSSA President Suvayan De at suvayande@ucwv.edu. The deadline to submit nominations is 19 May.
