We seek nominations of SSSA members for Chair of the Site Policy Committee (i.e. Site Director) and General Program Director, both of which positions are vacant. Nominations will be accepted through the end of the day on Wednesday, May 6.

General Program Director

The General Program Director has the following duties:

  • Plan and Direct the Annual Meeting program, including program preparation, printing, and delivery to attendees;Require each Affiliate to prepare and submit its program in such form and as such time as designated by the General Program Director;
  • Submit a report to the Executive Committee, Council, and Business Meeting of the Membership; and
  • Have such other powers and duties as may be prescribed by the Council or those Bylaws.

The General Program Director will serve from the time of election (approximately May 26, 2026) until the end of the 2028 SSSA conference. This is a period of roughly two years. Although this position typically has a three-year term, we are shortening the term just for this time in order to stagger the terms of General Program Director and Chair of the Site Policy Committee.

The General Program Director will receive a stipend of $7500 per year.

Chair of the Site Policy Committee

The Chair of the Site Policy Committee (i.e. Site Director) has the following duties:

  • Investigate potential sites for the annual meeting with the advice and consent of the members of the Site Policy Committee;
  • Recommend annual meeting sites to the Executive Committee and Council;
  • Negotiate contracts with Hotels or other annual meeting sites for final approval by the Executive Committee and Council;
  • Verify billing from annual meeting hotels; and
  • Have such other powers and duties as may be prescribed by the Council or these Bylaws.

The Chair of the Site Policy Committee will serve from the time of election (approximately May 26, 2026) until the end of the 2029 SSSA conference. This is a period of roughly three years.

SSSA will pay the travel expenses for the Chair of the Site Policy Committee to visit the cities of future meetings to select a hotel for the meeting.
