The 2020 SWPSA Executive Council’s virtual lecture series, created to contribute to ongoing academic dialogue, and engage students and community members, will host its second of four events on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 3 pm to 5 pm eastern via Zoom. Our first panel session focused on Race and Racism in America and featured three distinguished colleagues Dr. Menna Demessie, Senior Vice President of Policy Analysis & Research, Congressional Black Caucus; Dr. Sekou Franklin, Middle Tennessee State University, and Dr. Niambi Carter, Howard University. This session was attended by approximately 70 individuals from our membership, students, and community members across the United States.
Next Thursday (November 19, 3 pm – 5 pm eastern) we host our second panel discussion of the SWPSA Speaker series, The 2020 Elections: A Century of Women in American Politics. Our distinguished guests are Dr. Danielle Thomsen, University of California, Irvine; Dr. Kelly Dittmar, Center for American Women and Politics, Rutgers University; Dr. Karen Kedrowski, Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics, Iowa State University; Attorney Michelle Bernard, The Bernard Center for Women, Politics and Public Policy.

As a reminder, our remaining roundtables will discuss the comparative impacts of COVID around the world, and scrutinize immigration and immigration policy. These events are scheduled for Thursday, February 18, 2021 (COVID); and, Thursday, March 18, 2021 (Immigration).
