University of the Incarnate Word political scientist Brandon Metroka has published a new article on how speaker ideology impacts how the US Supreme Court views 1st Amendment freedom of speech cases. His work has been published in the Justice System Journal and can be accessed here. He found that the links between speaker ideology, the method of speech chosen, and the method of suppressing that speech are more tenuous than previous methods of analysis have afforded, and they tend to overstate the Court’s conservatism.
